In the newly created position, Drotleff is responsible for the growth and commercial development of the sports startup
In his new role as Chief Commercial Officer, Michael Drotleff will focus on the growth and commercial development of Sponsoo. This includes, among other things, the expansion of partnerships both in the area of athletes, clubs and associations as well as in the area of agencies and brands. "The approach of a digital marketplace for athletes, clubs and associations fascinated and convinced me in equal measure. Becoming part of the Sponsoo family is both an exciting challenge and an honor for me. I am grateful for the received trust and I am very much looking forward to working with the team to drive forward the sustainable further development of Europe's leading marketplace for sports sponsorship," announces Michael Dortleff. Drotleff will report to Andreas Kitzing, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sponsoo.
Drotleff has more than 20 years of professional experience in the sports business. Most recently, the economics graduate was responsible for and coordinated the soccer club business of Infront Germany from August 2018 to December 2020. Prior to that, Drotleff was Director of Sales and Business Development for RB Leipzig. From November 2003 to May 2016, the 48-year-old worked in sponsorship at Krombacher Brauerei, most recently as Head since September 2015.
The management team will continue to be supported by Patrick Krian as an external consultant, who has already been working since April. Krian also contributes a great deal of valuable expertise. For the past three years, he has been Head of Global Commercial Partnerships at Bundesliga International, where he was responsible for sponsorship and licensing. Before that, he spent more than 15 years at RTL in the areas of licensing, entertainment and advertising partnerships. Both new additions are to continue Sponsoo's future-oriented direction together with the management team and advance the company's position as a pacesetter in digital and innovative sports sponsorship worldwide.
